You are a Wizard, Literally!

What I saw on the morning news two weeks ago got me writing this. Hahaha.

When I am pissed at someone during a day, I do not store grudges against him/her. However, I usually just think of the funny scenarios that could possibly happen to that person, or the things I could possibly have done to get even to him/her. I could pull this person’s pants out, throw a stone at him, hurl a dipper full of water, or maybe put some camouflage thumbtacks on his/her chair so that when he sits, you know the rest. I hope I can do these things just by using my thoughts, my concentration, my mind.

I would be so lazy. At home, using just my brain and mere concentration I can lift a brush and have it style my hair. Again, that is without using my hands. While watching TV, I can study, wash the dishes, turn the fireplace off and feed my dog, all at the same time. Again, that is without using my hands. I do not have to reach for a pencil that fell and rolled under the couch, or do some flossing every night to get rid of the small, light particles stuck in the in-betweens of our teeth. I can do them all just by using my mind and concentration.

These are one of the things that we humans put on the sub-category of life called, “What-Ifs”. How fantastic it would be if we could fulfill just at least one what-ifs we have in our life. Personally, I have wished that the Wingardium Leviosa, or the spell that the Harry Potter casts use to levitate objects would come true in life. There are really some parts of fiction, science or literary, that humans try to make true.

And success is what humans usually achieve. Thomas Edison, before successfully lighting the first light bulb, had10,000 failed ways of trying to make it work.

It is the same with human cloning. It was just a much-hyped scientific fiction fan fare in the early twentieth century, but just recently we have cloned successfully the very first animal, and its name was Dolly.

We try, and try, until we succeed. We try to come up with solutions to every problem or come up with the latest technology to make life easier. These days, the struggle to attain human perfection is not surpassingly surreal.

I have mentioned about we humans trying to make scientific or literary fiction come true. Lo, Ho, Behold, Oh, Alleluia, Alas, Drumroll. Conjure up whatever fancy introduction you can, buthurray for us humans, we again have gained success from just a simple what if in life such as what if we humans can really lift things just by using the gravitational forces of our thoughts?

Mattel, the world’s largest toy company headquartered in El Segundo, California, successfully created a simple yet, revolutionary and astonishing toy called Mindflex. Mindflex is a toy or a game with a simple objective: Navigate the ball through a mind-bending obstacle course as quickly as you can. With nine customizable obstacles, you'll discover 100s of different combinations. Of course, no things are easy. There is an obvious catch, and from what I’ve been ranting about on the previous paragraphs, you probably would have guessed by now as I finish this sentence. You are right. Navigate the ball without using your hands. Navigate the ball just by using your thoughts, your concentration, your mind.

How does this work? We know that everything that has MASS has gravity, therefore when gravity is present there is MASS (I am talking about the crappy Physics knowledge I have. HAHA!). Ok, I’d try to make it easier. Everything that has mass exerts gravity, and all matter here on Earth are pulled by gravity (as in Hinihila...pababa). Now Noetic Science claims that our MERE THOUGHTS have mass, and therefore we can exert gravity on THINGS, thus making THEM move, literally. “Our thoughts have mass”, so we can pull, push or LEVITATE objects by our thoughts (p.78). Our brain’s signals have mass!

This is it. Mattel has created a gadget proving just that; that thoughts have mass, therefore it can exert gravity and pull [or push] objects towards [or against] it. To be honest, I am not so sure about the “the thoughts have mass” part because I based it from afiction book by Dan Brown called The Lost Symbol (I’m a Brown fan!), but that explanation of mine is just an addition to Mattel’s explanation that I hope would further help you understand how MindFlex works. One cannot really say that what a fiction book contains is fact, no matter how convincing the writing style is. So now, see it for yourselves.

Technology these days has always been an innovation of its predecessor - Black Televisions, Color Televisions, LCD Televisions, LED televisions, and now, 3D Televisions. What’s next? For Mattel’s MindFlex, I think it’s a pretty dangerous piece of technology. We cannot ever comprehend what humans could do to IMPROVE this mind-technology. Whether it’s for the worst like what I mentioned on the first paragraph – using my mind to throw a stone at someone who pissed me off – or for day to day usage such as washing the dishes while studying, or reaching for a pencil that fell and rolled on the couch, we can never know.

-Paolo (This is part of my book report for English.)

What are you capable of doing?

* I’d buy this P.O.S. for $80.00! I think it’s fun. Hahaha.

Still Curious?
